24 Aug Celebrating Women in Plumbing

Marley Pipe Systems has always been a great supporter of women and their achievements and have therefore decided to end Women’s Month 2020 on an inspirational note by shining the spotlight on a Woman in Plumbing.

Desmare Viljoen is an inspiring 22 year old whom decided at a young age that she wanted to work with her hands so that she could be a pillar to her society and be successful in making an immediate difference in people’s lives.

Recently qualified as a plumber, she works for a plumbing company that does maintenance and installation on all plumbing systems and has no problem completing any of the jobs at the same pace as others in her position.  Desmare firmly believes that women can work just as hard as their male counterparts and although some of the equipment may be a bit heavy to carry sometimes, anything is possible through sheer will and determination and the support of her family and friends.

In her free time, she plays and coaches netball for the Divas netball club.

Desmare believes that more women are needed in plumbing because women add an extra dimension of attention to detail.  Her motto in life is to never quit and to continue through even the most difficult of days, to breathe deeply when things get tough and to try again and again and to believe that nothing is impossible.
