When WBHO originally made the decision to install a concrete pipeline for their irrigation gravity water system in Rustenburg, they didn’t realise the hassles that came with it. Not only did concrete deliveries take too long, but the sheer weight and availability of only short lengths meant that the completion of the project was held up for far too long.
For this reason, they explored alternative materials but ended up rejecting product after product either because the manufacturer didn’t have the track record behind them or because their service offering or longstanding guarantee wasn’t up to their expecting standards.
Marley’s mandate for ‘Quality without Compromise’ is finally what drove WBHO to consider HDPE, favouring our values which would provide them with one-on-one technical expertise and a good understanding of what would be required to get the job done right.
Marley supplied 1300m of Weholite Structure Wall HDPE DN/ID 900mm pipe to be extrusion welded. The distinctive advantages of HDPE, including its additional capacity and reduced jointing made handling much easier and convenient when compared to concrete, ultimately resulting in significant time savings and a reduction in carbon footprint.
All-in-all, the choice to install HDPE will translate directly into a more durable pipeline with a much longer life cycle. In addition, our proven HDPE solution once again resulted in a client who was satisfied with receiving a timeous, workable solution to an old and traditional system.
The project is expected to reach completion later in 2016 which will be followed by value-added coaching and training from the Marley team.
