“I would describe Ubuntu Plastics’ relationship with Marley Pipe Systems as a growing and mutually beneficial venture, as the company ethos of both businesses is very similar in that we strive to provide our clients with a quality product at a competitive price with excellent service levels.”
– Kevin Dean, Ubuntu Plastics (Pty) Ltd.
In the past, Ubuntu Plastics was not able to manufacture pipeline fittings for projects where HDPE piping was specified. They subsequently turned to Marley Pipe
Systems to supply them with Buttweld machines which would allow them to extend the range of fittings they were able to offer their customers in the HDPE market.
Ubuntu Plastics, established in 2003, specialises in the manufacturing of fabricated PVC fittings for the mining, irrigation, civil, and industrial sectors. In 2009, Ubuntu Plastics purchased Boseng - South Africa’s oldest and most experienced PVC fabrication business that has been in the industry since 1972.
In order to extend their service offering, Ubuntu Plastics purchased Worldpoly Buttweld machines that are marketed by Marley Pipe Systems. Worldpoly is the leading developer and producer of international standard PE pipe-welding fusion equipment. The purchase of these machines enabled Ubuntu Plastics to break into new markets and tackle projects that they were unable to do before.
Kevin Dean, Managing Director of Ubuntu Plastics, found working with Marley Pipe Systems a positive experience. “They are a company that has integrity and is committed to upholding standards in the piping and fittings industry”.
Kevin had the opportunity to travel with Marley Pipe Systems to visit HDPE fabrication and moulding businesses in Turkey and Germany, and found it extremely enlightening to see the different manufacturing techniques being utilised, as well as other product opportunities that there are for the African market.
When asked if he would recommend Marley Pipe Systems as a supplier, Kevin said that he would definitely do so and that he was impressed with their professionalism and integrity.
